The trailer for The Watcher mini-series was released on Netflix on September 24, 2022. A horror thriller from screenwriter Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story) sees a family who have moved into a mansion at 657 Boulevard face a stalker who constantly watches their home and intrudes into their lives. Murphy created the series with frequent collaborator Ian Brennan (“Scream Queens”).

The first seconds of the video represent the idyll that surrounds the Brannock family as they move into a new luxury home in a quiet area where they dreamed of finding happiness and peace. And one of the neighbors was kind enough to leave them a welcome letter explaining the history of their house. However, as they read, the letter becomes more and more ominous, especially when it says that someone is always watching them. And in the last line, a mysterious observer declares that their torment has only just begun.

The trailer perfectly captures the sense of uneasiness and paranoia that has gripped every member of the family. In each neighbor they see the same observer. The police consider the constant threatening letters nothing more than a hoax, their real estate agent Karen Calhoun (Jennifer Coolidge) urges them to sell the house quickly, and other residents of the city warn them to leave while they still can. However, the Brannocks refuse to give up, even when their anonymous tormentor breaks into the house, making their lives a living hell.

The miniseries is based on the true story of a couple who bought a house in New Jersey in 2014 but were eventually forced to leave due to threatening letters. The real Observer was never found.

Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale lead the series’ all-star cast, which also stars Mia Farrow, Margo Martindale, Terry Kinney, Joe Mantello, Richard Kind, Noma Dumezweni, Christopher McDonald, Michael Nouri, Isabelle Gravitt, Henry Hunter Hall and Luke David Blum. The Spectator will premiere on Netflix on October 13.
