The traditional Saint-Michel fair, organized by the City, takes place this Thursday, September 29, on the Jean-Jaurès alleys, until 6 p.m.
About sixty exhibitors took place this morning on the Jean-Jaurès alleys. Sale of local products, clothing, accessories, decoration… Most passers-by were surprised to see this great unpacking on a Thursday. “Ah! it’s Saint-Michel today, it’s probably the Nîmes fair”.
The elders remember the traditional garlic and broom fair
The elders remember with the refrain of “It was better before” this traditional garlic fair and its brooms with its hucksters, and “the famous thick mops that we no longer find in stores today!” adds Cathy smiling. “I remember the merchants were installed from Place Séverine to the toro on four aisles and traffic was cut off.”
Plus a broom, a single Cévennes garlic and sweet onion merchant in Saint-Julien-de-la-Nef and many clothes, blankets, duvets at low prices… Local products and a few exhibitors that we have been able to discover this summer at Thursdays in Nîmes.
