Russian propagandists reported the death of a British volunteer in captivity back in July, and after more than a month and a half of negotiations, the Russian Federation handed over his body to Ukraine through the DPR terrorist organization controlled by it.

Lubinets stressed that at that time the Russians were talking about death “as a result of illness and stress,” but today Ukraine received a corpse with missing body parts, numerous cuts and signs of torture.

“As a commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for human rights, I can already today responsibly say that such a death was violent. A person simply cannot endure such torture. I saw a photo of the body of the deceased, and anyone who sees it will have no doubts” Lubinets said.

Prosecutor General Andrey Kostin at today’s briefing announced the start of a pre-trial investigation into the possible torture and murder of a volunteer.

“The body provided by the aggressor country was stored in improper conditions and is in a mutilated state, so the true causes of death will be established after a forensic medical examination,” the prosecutor general said.

  • At the end of April, it was reported that two British volunteers, Paul Urey and Dylan Healy, were captured by the invaders in the Zaporozhye region while helping to evacuate a family from the war zone.
  • On July 15, it became known about the death of Paul Urey in the captivity of Russian-controlled terrorists. The militants said he died due to “diagnoses and stress.” Paul Urey’s mother reported that he was diabetic.
