A few days after the disappearance of their coach Ludovic Lelièvre, the players of Audrieu (D1) had managed to qualify for the second round of the Coupe de France by eliminating Saint-Vigor-le-Grand (R3). A week later, they created a new exploit in front of Bretteville-sur-Odon (R2). Romaric Lenoel, club secretary and player, now hopes to reach the famous jerseys before facing CHL Terre-et-Mer, which plays in D2. Maintenance.
Romaric, the draw for the third round of the Coupe de France therefore reserved the CHL Terre-et-Mer (D2) for JS Audrieu. What does this print inspire in you?
For our public and for the influence of our club, we would have liked to host this match at home. We are not very far from the jerseys [4e tour, ndlr]. We want to be careful. We’ve shown so far that we’re comfortable against big teams, but splits don’t mean much. The Cup is a different competition from the championship. It’s a bonus!
“I felt that, for Ludovic, the players wanted to shine”
After sharply eliminating AS Saint-Vigor (R3; 3-0), your team then took out LC Bretteville-sur Odon (R2) on penalties (1-1; 4 tab 3) in circumstances very special after the death of your coach, Ludovic Lelièvre…
Our collective strength was already there. I felt that, for Ludovic, the players wanted to shine. We approached the game very well. Leading at the break would have been deserved. The draw at the end of normal time is not illogical, but I think we showed more desire even if, at the end of the game, they cornered us in our camp.
This summer, Quentin Chollet left the club. Just like Baptiste Levavasseur and Baptiste Margueritte, your emblematic goalkeeper. Is this the end of a cycle for JS Audrieu?
Not necessarily ! I am entering my eighth season at the club and a base is still there. We have recruited eleven new players. Among them, Brice [Kaho, ndlr] and Maxim [Renault, ndlr] in the middle of the field. In quality, we have therefore lost nothing and with thirty-five to forty licensees, we are on the same basis as in previous years.
Apart from the Coupe de France, what will be your goals for the season?
The objective remains maintenance. If the mayonnaise takes, we will obviously not forbid ourselves to play a higher objective. The rise of our reserve team is the priority because the gap with our first team is too great. Nothing beats competition. The first official matches reassured us about our state of mind. They allow us to keep up the pace. The key is to put the same desire in all the matches of the season
French Cup (4th round). CHL Terre et Mer – JS Audrieu this Sunday (3 p.m.) at the Stade Nadine Dupont in Hermanville-sur-Mer.
