A man was killed in Nice, a woman in Rennes: within 24 hours, two people were killed in France by police fire, as they refused to obey the orders of the police, in one case during a traffic control, in the other in an operation to the dislocation of drug trafficking spiral.

In Nice, the driver of a stolen car, a Tunisian citizen, died today. According to the police, he was spotted by traffic officers while doing “dangerous zig-zags” on a motorway.

Officers pursued the vehicle which, when it fell into traffic, made a 180-degree turn, came head-on with the patrol car and crashed into it “repeatedly”. Two police officers were slightly injured. An officer fired once and the driver was killed on the spot.

A few hours earlier, a 22-year-old woman was killed and a 26-year-old man was injured in Rennes, northwestern France. Around 1 a.m. local time, a police officer fired once with his service revolver as colleagues checked a car as part of a drug investigation, Rennes prosecutor Philippe Astrick said.

The driver of the car, who was known to the authorities for drug trafficking cases, was hit in the arm. The bullet ricocheted and struck his passenger, who was killed.
